Brooker Memorial developed a "Loan Closet" in 1918 in response to families in need in the local community. This became the Care Closet in 2008 to respond to the needs of families we serve. Donations can be made by bringing cash or small items to 157 Litchfield Street in Torrington, or by mailing gift cards for grocery or department stores to the same address.
Donations in support of our child care center, dental education program and other services are always appreciated and welcomed. Checks can be mailed to Brooker Memroai l157 LItchfield Street, Torrington, CT 06790. Estate Planning or Legacy gifts can be arranged by contacting the Executive Director, and are a wonderful way to be remembered in support of Maria Seymour Brooker's tradition of service to others.
Another way to contribute is through Volunteerism, a donation of time. Brooker Memorial participates in the summer youth employment program, each year hosting student volunteers who work with child care and other areas along side Brooker staff. Seniors and others help with dental filing and other jobs developed to meet the needs of the agency and provide an opportunity for public service. Brooker Memorial from time to time participates in Title V employment for the elderly and student internships from a variety of colleges.
