- There will be no Blood Pressure Screenings on Tuesday January 27, 2015. Child Care and Dental Programs will also be closed on Tuesday. We will make a decision regarding Wednesday opening by 5:15 am on Wednesday January 28, 2015.
- Our Child Care and Learning Center is pleased to announce the start of our new Nursery School program this fall! The program will provide developmentally appropriate social and academic learning for 3 and 4 year olds, and will run from September to June. We are currently enrolling for both our Nursery School program, and have openings available for our Child Care Center as well. Contact us today for more information.

The Maria Seymour Brooker Memorial, Inc. has been serving the Litchfield County community for over 90 years providing important health and education programs to children and families. Our Mission: “To prepare children for life-long success through education, health services, family support and programs of excellence.” Children’s Dental Services and our Early Learning and Child Care Center are Brooker Memorial’s main programs. Community Health & Education Programs deliver a wider range of services to families in support of children.
Brooker has developed many strong community partnerships to support our programs and our families. For almost a century, we have helped families throughout Torrington lead healthier and happier lives.
Brooker Memorial welcomes our neighbors to join in serving our community through donations, volunteerism and legacy gifts.
This morning I had the privilege of attending a press conference where the United Way of Northwest CT's Women's Leadership Initiative announced JoAnn Ryan as the recipient of its first "Woman of the Year" Award. The Susan B. Anthony Project was also announced as the "Best Supporting Organization in the Role of Empowering Women." It was inspiring to see JoAnn, who so ably and enthusiastically leads our regional chamber of commerce, accept the honor. JoAnn appeared to be genuinely surprised at being the first recipient of this prestigious new award. But it came as no surprise to me and to the many others who witness her leadership in so many avenues.
