Joy happens every day!
Joy is experienced by all of us- moments of love, concern, care and happiness.
Support our 2022 Annual Fund
Joy happens every day in the halls and classrooms of our child care center and in the lobby and treatment rooms in our dental center.
I’m not talking about “Big Joy” like the most amazing thing in the world happened. I’m talking about little joys; little moments of love, concern, care and happiness.
This joy is experienced by all of us–children and adults.
For example, I recently walked into a toddler classroom. Little Noah sprinted to me and jumped into my arms. I scooped him up and gave him a hug. When I spoke, he looked at me, confused, and then realized this petite, curly-haired woman who looked just like his mommy wasn’t his mommy! He climbed down disappointedly, but I think he liked the hug anyway! This moment of joy warms me inside each time I recall it.
Today, I am writing to ask you for your support of the Brooker Memorial Annual Fund. Every day, we strive to provide excellent child care and dental care and we seek to do it with expertise, compassion and love.
We are committed to the promise our mission holds. We believe the care we provide has an immediate impact but also a long-term impact of preparing children for life-long success. A few examples of this impact work are:
- providing lessons in proper flossing and brushing
- treating tooth decay and educating parents on how to prevent further decay;
- teaching sight words and colors
- enabling children to experience the cycle of growing vegetables;
- strengthening children’s social emotional skills.
Research shows that when children are surrounded by loving adults they trust, their brains will properly and fully develop, they will be capable of learning and interacting with others, and they will be prepared to succeed in life.
In their daily work, Brooker staff provide the building blocks for success, showing children that they matter; that they are loved, and that they are amazing individuals.
Your support helps us with all the elements that make this happen: a qualified, committed staff, supplies and equipment to aid our work, continuing education to ensure we are knowledgeable and prepared to employ new methods in our respective fields.
We hope you will feel joy in supporting Brooker’s annual fund, knowing that your gift impacts every child we serve. Last year Brooker spread the joy to over 3,500 children throughout Litchfield County!
Thank you for your consideration. I hope that we can count on your support as a partner in this important work.
Sincerely,
Cathy C. Coyle
Executive Director

Ruth Chadwick Care Closet
In 1918, Brooker Memorial developed a “Loan Closet” to help families in need. In recent years this idea was revived and this became the Ruth Chadwick Care Closet. The Care Closet enables us to respond to needs of the families we serve. Donations of cash or department/grocery store gift cards are always welcome.

The Leon and Jennie E. Meyer Fund
The Leon and Jennie E. Meyer Fund was established in 2020 by Len and Wendy Meyer. This endowment fund honors Len’s parents for the examples they set for their children. All contributions to the fund will generate earnings for current operations and projects. The principal will be retained in perpetuity and as it grows, so will the amount of support for Brooker programs including child care, dental care for children and pregnant women, children’s therapies, and others.
